Ingredients

  • 2 slices of brioche or white bread (or high-protein/keto bread of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or oil (optional for crispiness)
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: 1 scoop unflavored whey protein isolate (mixed into Nutella for added protein)

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Butter or lightly oil both sides of each bread slice (optional for extra crispiness).
  3. Spread a generous layer of Nutella in between the two bread slices to form a sandwich.
  4. Brush the edges of the sandwich with egg wash to create a sealed crust.
  5. Place the sandwich in the air fryer and cook for 2-3 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  6. Carefully flip the toast pie and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Let the pie cool slightly before cutting in half and serving warm.

Notes

For a keto version, use low-carb bread and reduce Nutella amount if needed. For extra protein, add the whey protein to the Nutella mixture before spreading. These can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
